With the assistance of the Ministry of Health and PHARMAC, NZ’s public drugs purchaser, we have begun work on a small portfolio of comparative studies, including the assessment of differential outcomes in: women taking short vs. long courses of trastuzumab (Herceptin) for breast cancer (a significant controversial topic in NZ); women taking tamoxifen for breast cancer, plus or minus paroxetine or fluoxetin (Paxil and Prozac) for depression (the latter drugs seem to block the effect of tamoxifen); and people with multiple sclerosis taking (vs. not taking) beta interferon. The latter two analyses are being conducted in association with colleagues in British Columbia. |
